Ants
Identification
There are many types of ants in our area, but the type you will see most often are "pavement ants". Pavement ants are very small (~3 mm long) and are dark brown in color. They get their name from their tendency to nest in the soil along pavement edges and cracks. You will also see small mounds of dirt neat their nesting areas.

Habitat & Tendencies
As the name suggests, you will typically find these ants along sidewalks, patios, curbing, and pavers. You will often see pavement ants in large numbers or "ant piles" in those areas. Pavement ants can become an issue when they enter your home. They can occur in large numbers indoors as they search for food, crumbs, garbage, and moisture.
